Berlitz Virtual Classroom - Overview

Berlitz Virtual ClassroomThe Berlitz Virtual Classroom allows students and instructors to speak, listen, interact and enjoy live Berlitz Language Programs just like a regular class by using computers and the Internet to bring them together.

What is the BVC?

BVC lessons are the same as lessons delivered in an LC except that the instructor and student do not sit in the same physical room. Instead, they sit in entirely different rooms, possibly even different time zones and communicate over the Internet. During BVC lessons both the instructor and student ask questions, speak, listen, indicate, write, draw, exchange notes and browse the World Wide Web in real time.

How does it work?

The BVC relies on computers linked via the Internet in conjunction with the Interwise Moderator (instructor) and Participant (student) applications. Once the programs are installed, on their respective computers, instructors and students enter a scheduled lesson just like a lesson in an LC, by logging in to the BVC web site.
The BVC team provides technical guidance and support for all live lessons to ensure that instructors need only focus on instructing and students need only focus on learning via the Berlitz Method.

What is in the Berlitz Virtual Classroom?

The Berlitz Virtual Classroom has the following instructional tools: dynamic white screen (a.k.a. white board), paint box tools, text tools, libraries of illustrations and photographs, shared Internet browsing, application sharing and more. These tools are available to both students and instructors making for varied and dynamic lessons.

The Berlitz Virtual Classroom may not have walls however just like in a regular class only those who have been invited can enter the lesson. Passwords, usernames, and schedules permit invited parties to enter whilst keeping uninvited parties out.

In addition to these features, each lesson can be recorded and reviewed by the participants. Students can playback and review their language lesson for learning purposes while Berlitz Instructors can playback and review their lessons for personal appraisal and professional development.

How is it to teach using the BVC?

BVC lessons are fast and exciting with emphasis on student participation, just like a regular classroom lesson. Instructors must be well versed in BIT and Berlitz Language programs to capitalize on the new dynamic environment.
