Thank you for your interest in teaching at Berlitz in Slovakia
Are you familiar with Slovakia?

Visa Requirements

As a Non-Slovak citizen and non-EU citizen, it is necessary to have a
permit to reside, and more importantly work in Slovakia, for any period of
time. EU passport holders can apply for a permanent residence from
Slovakia. But this is not essential for working and living in our country.
Further information on obtaining the relevant permits can be obtained from
a Slovak embassy. To be eligible for employment please be sure that you
have obtained all the appropriate documentation and permits.
Residence Permit

This varies greatly depending on your nationality. Please contact your
local Slovak Embassy to find out the requirements. Further information
regarding addresses, departments or contact people can be obtained locally
from Berlitz Language Centers. As Slovakia is now a member of the European
Union, EU passport holders can work in Slovakia without any problems.
Hiring Procedure

Once we have received your application, we will contact you regarding an interview. Interviews are held at the language center during regular office hours. If you reside outside of Slovakia, please inform us as to when you are planning to be in the country so that we can set up a personal interview.
Please note that any costs incurred while travelling to the interview are covered by the applicant. After successful completion of the interview process, you will be invited to attend the Berlitz Instructor Training. This will also be held at one of our language centers and is free of charge. We are looking forward to having you as part of our young and dynamic team.

Teaching Contracts

Due to the nature and range of programs offered by Berlitz, we
initially offer candidates three-month trial contracts. After these three
months we sign more permanent contract. Under such conditions, the working
hours are flexible and may change from week to week. On average our
instructors teach about 30 units a week. And remember that Slovakia has a
favorable flat income tax rate of 19 %.

Getting Started

Our experience has shown that you will initially need to bring
approximately $1,000-$2,000 to budget for renting an apartment or similar
accommodation, day-to- day living expenses, and miscellaneous expenses
that can be incurred. It is not necessary to open a bank account on
arrival but strongly suggested, this facilitates the transfer of monthly
salaries, payment of bills much more efficiently. It is also advisable for
you to get a mobile phone whilst you are here, as this makes contact much
easier.
